Terms of Service

1. About these terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and RavenFrost Labs, a trading name of Scott Bradley, a sole trader ("Shadow CV", "we", "us") and govern your use of shadow-cv.com and our CV and cover-letter tools (the "Service"). By creating an account or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

These Terms are written for consumers (individuals using the Service for purposes outside a trade, business or profession). Nothing in them affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and other UK consumer law.

2. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity under your account. The personal data we collect and how we use it is described in our Privacy Policy.

3. The Service and our plans

We currently offer:

  • Free — create an account and use our ATS simulation tools and free CV builder.
  • Pay-as-you-go — a one-off £5 payment for the ATS-optimised CV rewrite.
  • Pro — a subscription at £12.99 per month, giving access to unlimited ATS analyses and CV rewrites, score history tracking, AI cover letter generation, and the premium CV builder with live ATS check and AI rewrite.

Feature details for each plan are shown on our pricing page, which forms part of these Terms. We may change features and plans; see section 10.

All prices are in pounds sterling. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; by paying, you also agree to Stripe's terms. We do not store your full card details.

5. Digital content — immediate supply and loss of the right to cancel

This section applies to the £5 pay-as-you-go purchase and to any document we generate or make available for you (such as a CV rewrite or an AI-generated cover letter), including those produced under a Pro subscription. We refer to these as "Digital Content".

Digital Content is supplied to you immediately on purchase or generation. Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you do not have a right to cancel or withdraw from a supply of digital content once its supply has begun, where you have given your prior express consent to that and acknowledged that your right to cancel is thereby lost.

Accordingly, before we supply any Digital Content you will be asked to:

  1. expressly request that we begin supplying it immediately, and
  2. acknowledge that you will lose your statutory 14-day right to cancel that Digital Content once its supply begins.

Once you have given that consent and we have begun supplying the Digital Content, it is non-refundable and cannot be cancelled — including where you obtained the Digital Content you wanted and then cancelled a subscription. This does not affect your rights if the Digital Content is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality (see section 9), and does notby itself end a Pro subscription's separate cooling-off treatment in section 7.

6. Pro subscription

  • Renewal. Your Pro subscription renews automatically each month at £12.99 and continues until you cancel.
  • How to cancel. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal in your account, which is managed by Stripe. There is no cancellation fee.
  • What happens when you cancel. Cancellation stops future renewals; your Pro access continues until the end of your current paid billing period, and you are not charged again. As explained in section 7, the fee for the current period is not refunded, and any Digital Content you have already generated remains non-refundable under section 5.
  • What happens to your data. Cancelling your subscription does not delete your account or your saved documents. To delete those, see section 11 and our Privacy Policy.
  • Price changes.We will give you at least 30 days' notice of any change to the subscription price, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

7. Refunds and immediate supply (Pro subscription)

Pro gives you immediate access to digital content — your saved CVs, AI analysis, cover-letter generation and the other Pro features. When you subscribe, you will be asked to:

  1. expressly request that we make Pro available to you immediately, and
  2. acknowledge that, because the service is supplied immediately as digital content, you will lose your statutory 14-day right to cancel once supply begins.

Once you have given that consent and your Pro access has begun, the subscription fee is non-refundable. You can cancel at any time (section 6); cancellation stops future renewals and your access continues until the end of the current paid billing period, but we do not give refunds or credits for the current period or for any unused time or features.

This does not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if the service or any Digital Content is faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality (see section 9). Those rights cannot be waived by the consent above.

8. Your content and the licence you give us

You keep all rights in the CVs, cover letters and other content you create or upload ("Your Content"). You grant us a limited licence to host, store, process and transmit Your Content only as needed to provide the Service to you — including sending it to our AI provider for analysis, rewriting and generation as described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm you have the right to provide Your Content and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

9. Quality of the Service and your statutory rights

We will provide the Service with reasonable care and skill. Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, any digital content and services we supply must be as described, fit for purpose, and of satisfactory quality. If they are not, you may be entitled to a repeat performance, a price reduction, or a refund. These statutory rights cannot be excluded, and nothing in these Terms limits them.

The Service is a tool, not a guarantee. We help you improve and format CVs and cover letters and estimate "ATS" compatibility, but we do not guarantee any particular outcome — including interviews, job offers, or that any specific applicant-tracking system will rank your CV in a particular way.

10. Changes to the Service and these Terms

We may update the Service and these Terms from time to time — for example to reflect new features, legal requirements or pricing. If we make a significant change that affects you, we will give you reasonable notice (and, for price changes, the notice in section 6). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

11. Suspension, termination and account deletion

  • You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. Deleting your account removes your saved documents, subject to the retention exceptions in our Privacy Policy.
  • We may suspend or end your access if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, or where we are required to by law. Where fair and lawful to do so, we will give you notice.

12. Our liability to you

We do not exclude or limit our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability caused by our negligence or for fraud. Subject to that, if we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking this contract. We are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable. Our total liability to you for any claims arising under these terms will be limited to the total amount paid by you to us for the services in the twelve (12) months prior to the claim.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes may be brought in its courts. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the part of the UK where you live.
